Premier League: Tottenham 4-0 Liverpool

Monday, September 19, 2011

Nine-man Liverpool suffered their heaviest Premier League defeat for eight-and-a-half years following a 4-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

Luka Modrić blasted the home side in front after just seven minutes with a stunning finish before Charlie Adam saw red for two bookable offences after pulling down the Croatian schemer and then catching Scott Parker.

And Kenny Dalglish saw his side's numbers reduced further in the 63rd minute after Martin Škrtel's second crude lunge on his chief tormentor Gareth Bale left the Wales winger on the floor.

Spurs immediately took advantage of their two-man edge with Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor scoring inside two minutes.

Adebayor then made it 4-0 in the final seconds when he brought down Benoît Assou-Ekotto's pass and fired the ball past Pepe Reina.
