Balotelli argues with Kolarov over free-kick duty

Mario Balotelli sparked anger amongst his Manchester City team-mates and the fans after confronting Aleksandar Kolarov over who should take a free-kick during Saturday's 3-3 draw with Sunderland.

City were 3-1 down midway through the second half when they won a free-kick on the edge of the Sunderland box and Balotelli was determined to get a crack at the set-piece and remonstrated with Kolarov, who had already preparing himself to take the kick.

The Serbian picked up the ball and hid it behind his back as Balotelli attempted to get his hands on it.

A combination of captain Vincent Kompany, Nigel de Jong and Carlos Tévez eventually managed to drag Balotelli away from Kolarov.

Kolarov then took the free-kick but it sailed over the bar.

"I let Mario and Ale (Kolarov) decide who takes free-kicks in that position. These things can happen but it is the last time," City boss Roberto Mancini said afterwards.

This is not the first time Balotelli and Kolarov have openly argued with a training ground bust-up reported in August 2011.
