Man United in talks with Kaká

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Manchester United have held talks with AC Milan star Kaká over a sensational summer move to Old Trafford.

According to reports in The Sun newspaper, the Premier League leaders have already met the Brazilian’s representatives to discuss personal terms which would total £35 million in wages alone.

"It was a very positive meeting, although nothing was agreed," a source close to the player said.

"The player wants a five-year contract and wages of £135,000 a week. He is very keen to join United and these are figures that are within United’s pay structure. It’s up to them what happens now."

The talks did not involve any discussion about a transfer fee but Milan expect to get at least half of the £100 million Manchester City were prepared to pay in January.

Kaká has also been linked with Real Madrid but has spoken of his admiration for United.

He said recently: "They have some great players in (Ryan) Giggs and (Paul) Scholes and especially Wayne Rooney.

"One of my best friends, Anderson, is also there — how can anyone say no?

"They are the English and European champions and a great club to play for."

The big question now is how United will find the cash.

One solution would be the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real, something that, according to former Real president Ramón Calderón, is as good as a done deal.
