Berlusconi: I'm not forcing Kaká out

AC Milan supremo Silvio Berlusconi has rubbished suggestions that he is pushing Kaká out of the Italian giants.

The 27-year-old Brazilian appears close to a world-record move to Real Madrid and the player has called a press conference for Monday in Brazil where he is expected to confirm the transfer.

Reports suggest Kaká has been unhappy at the San Siro since Milan showed their willingness to cash in on him in January by accepting a bid from Manchester City.

"I've begged him to stay at Milan," Berlusconi told Milan Channel. "I did it several months ago and Kaká, despite the fact that there was a stratospheric offer of €105 million, stayed.

"Now certain clubs again made persistent enquiries, Chelsea and Madrid who will bring, they tell me, a different economic deal for the player."

And while Berlusconi admits they will not stand in Kaká's way should he decide to move to the Bernabéu, the Italian Prime Minister has yet to give up hope that he will be able to convince the former World Player of the Year to stay in Italy.

He added: "(Milan vice-president Adriano) Galliani and I arranged to meet last Sunday.

"I asked to meet Kaka, but he had left for Brazil and so I agreed with Galliani to have a long telephone conversation with Kaká this Sunday night or Monday.

"If he presents us with a similar situation to that of Andriy Shevchenko, we will behave in the same way, giving the player and his family the freedom to make the choices they believe are the best.

"And if Kaká should leave to go play in another squad, I will invest what Milan receive from the sale to reinforce Milan and create a very competitive squad."
