Der Kaiser's dig at Franck Ribéry

Monday, July 27, 2009

Bayern Munich supremo Franz Beckenbauer has accused Franck Ribéry of showing a lack of respect and commitment to the Bundesliga giants.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have publicly pursued the 26-year-old, who has made it clear that he would prefer to leave the Allianz Arena this summer.

Beckenbauer has been left disappointed by the Ribéry's actions, believing the France international is just using Bayern to further his own career

"Ribéry only came here to make a name for himself," Der Kaiser is quoted as saying in Bild.

"He doesn't give a damn about Munich."

Ribéry signed a four-year contract when he arrived in Munich from Olympique Marseille two years ago, but Beckenbauer believes the Frenchman never intended to see out that deal.

"Why would I sign a four-year contract if I only want to stay for three?" he said.
