Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Wearing the No 9 Barcelona jersey, Zlatan Ibrahimović was unveiled to the press and more than 50,000 fans at the Camp Nou on Monday.

The Swede completed his move from Inter Milan yesterday in a remarkable deal which involves Samuel Eto’o going the other way.

Barcelona will part with a reported €46 million and Eto'o to secure the services of Ibrahimović, while Belarus midfielder Aliaksandr Hleb will go on loan to the Italian club for one season.

Ibrahimović is contracted to the Catalan giants until 2014. He has a buy-out clause at €250 million.

He becomes Barça's third signing of the summer after Brazilian duo Maxwell and Keirrison.

"It feels like I'm living a dream now," Ibrahimović told a news conference.

"Only one club can buy me and that is Barcelona. My will to come to Barcelona was too big for staying in Inter Milan.

"It is a big honour. There are many big clubs but there is only one special club.

"I come here to bring something new. I'm here to win and I'll do my best to win."

The 27-year-old striker will travel with his new team to the United States, but will miss the friendly with Manchester City on August 19.

He should, though, return for the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao four days later.
