Ricardo Carvalho: I'm staying at Chelsea

Monday, August 10, 2009

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has opted to stay at Stamford Bridge amid speculation linking him with a move to Inter Milan over the summer.

The 31-year-old Portuguese has been linked with a move to Italy all summer, in order to link up with former boss José Mourinho.

But Carvalho, who has three years left on his contract, has now declared that he is going to stay at West London.

He told Sky Sports: "Of course I'm staying, but first of all I have to get fit and better for my team-mates.

"Last year was a disaster. It was the worst time I've had in my career. I wasn't happy.

"After that now I have to look forward, but I have to get fit and to help my team-mates."
