Andrea Della Valle leaves Fiorentina presidency

Friday, September 25, 2009

Andrea Della Valle stepped down from his position as president of Fiorentina on Thursday having grown tired of the fans protesting against his transfer policy.

Fiorentina sold Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo to Juventus and didn't reinforce as expected.

The Viola acquired midfielder Savio Nsereko as their main signing this summer from West Ham.

"During today's board meeting, Andrea Della Valle has announced his decision to leave his post as president of the club," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The functions of the presidency will now be handed over to vice-president Mario Cognigni. The board also evaluated the running of the club during the meeting."
