Kim Källström fired the French giants ahead after just three minutes before Miralem Pjanić doubled their advantage with an exquisite free-kick 10 minutes later.
Sidney Govou's deflected header made it 3-0 on 24 minutes while Bafétimbi Gomis completed the scoring in the 51st minute for Lyon.
