International Friendly: England 3-1 Egypt

England needed second-half goals by substitutes Peter Crouch and Shaun Wright-Phillips to clinch a morale-boosting 3-1 victory over Egypt at Wembley.

Egypt deservedly led at half-time through Mohamed Zidan's 23rd-minute strike, but England finally found their fluency after Crouch and Michael Carrick came on at the break and the former levelled in the 56th minute.

Fellow sub Wright-Phillips put England in front in the 75th minute when the winger hit the ball into the net from the edge of the area after Egypt goalkeeper Essam El Hadary had parried James Milner's initial shot.

And, five minutes later, Crouch swept home Wright-Phillips' cross to seal England's 500th international victory with his 20th goal in 37 caps.
