Real Mallorca prevailed in the battle of the top-four chasers as they edged a five-goal thriller at home with Valencia.

Gonzalo Castro and Pierre Webó scored first-half goals for Mallorca before Jordi Alba reduced Valencia's deficit shortly after the re-start.

The home side saw their two-goal cushion restored, though, on 63 minutes when Manuel Fernandes, who was later sent off, put through his own net.

Pablo Hernández's 86th-minute effort set up a tense finale, but Valencia suffered a seventh loss of the season as fifth-placed Mallorca moved five points behind them in the table.
