Cesc Fàbregas has revealed he had an emotionally-charged meeting with Arsène Wenger over his future – and that any deal is now in the Arsenal manager's hands.

The Spaniard is summer target for Barcelona and is understood to have informed Wenger of his desire to return to the Camp Nou.

Although Fábregas did not confirm if he had requested a move, the 23-year-old midfielder did admit they spoke about his future.

Speaking at Spain's training camp in Madrid, Fábregas said: "I have great respect for Arsène Wenger, for Arsenal Football Club and for the Arsenal fans. Sometimes not even in my own house have I felt more love than I felt at Arsenal.

"I had a long conversation with Arsène, it was probably the greatest conversation I had with someone in my life. I respect him so much and I don't want to say too much about this.

"He told me to concentrate on my football, he told me to concentrate on the World Cup, and he told me to leave it in his hands: (that) he will deal with whatever happens in my future. That's what I am doing – just concentrating on football."

"He told me to concentrate on my football, to concentrate on the World Cup and to leave it in his hands.

"He will deal with whatever happens in my future and that's what I'm doing - just concentrating on football. It's not up to me anymore.

"It's just now about Arsenal and whoever it has to be and that's it. I don't want to say anything else and I just want to be focused for the World Cup because it's the most important thing.

"The rest is the future and I'm not interested in the future."

In the past, Wenger has tended to allow any player to leave who no longer wishes to remain at Arsenal.
