Valencia are guaranteed of third spot in La Liga despite losing 2-0 at Villarreal, who finished the game with nine men.
Giuseppe Rossi put the home side in the lead after ten minutes before strike partner Joseba Llorente made it 2-0 nine minutes later.
Villarreal defended their lead but not without losing two men in the second half as Llorente collected his second yellow card in the 71st minute and Joan Capdevila followed with a straight red a minute later.
