World Cup 2010 Group C: Slovenia 2-2 USA

Saturday, June 19, 2010

The United States fought back from two goals down at halftime to secure a 2-2 draw with Slovenia in one of the best matches of the 2010 World Cup so far.

Slovenia opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Valter Birsa curled home a 25-yarder that left USA keeper Tim Howard rooted to the spot.

And the Europeans looked to be on their way to the last 16 from Group C as Zlatan Ljubijankič coolly slid his shot past Howard after being fed by Milivoje Novakovič on 42 minutes.

However, USA were back into the game within three minutes after the interval with Landon Donovan lashing an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net.

Michael Bradley then made the comeback complete when he rammed in the equaliser from eight minutes from time.
