Maurizio Lanzaro scored at both ends as bottom club Real Zaragoza held Valencia to a frustrating 1-1 draw at the Mestalla.
Lanzaro struck for Zaragoza after just three minutes when the defender acrobatically volleyed past Miguel Moyà as the Valencia defence appealed in vain for offside.
But the Italian went from hero to villain just before half-time as he glanced the ball over his own goalkeeper Toni Doblas and into the net.
Zaragoza finished with 10 men after substitute Ander Herrera was dismissed midway through the second half for his lunging challenge on Juan Mata.
