Bayer Leverkusen sealed their first victory in Group E of the Champions League with a comprehensive 2-0 success at home to Genk.

The breakthrough came half an hour in when Lars Bender drilled home from an acute angle past Genk goalkeeper László Köteles and into the bottom left corner.

Leverkusen made the game safe in stoppage time as Michael Ballack's perfectly timed volley from the edge of the area took a deflection off defender Anele Ngcongca, which wrong-footed Köteles.
