Sokol Saratov and Spartak Tambov opened new season of the Russian third division on Monday and a little known player by the name of Evgeny Shcherbakov ensured the game will live long in the memory.

The opening round of the new campaign saw Sokol leapfrog into top spot with a 4-0 mauling of Tambov, and the second goal of the game was an absolute stunner that probably won't be bettered in world football this year.

Shcherbakov, with his back to goal, received a chipped pass from his centre-half around 40-yards from Tambov net.

He then swivelled 180 degrees as the ball dropped over his shoulder and struck an outrageous volley which incredibly sailed over the keeper and high into the goalmouth.

The technique to control the ball was Zinedine Zidane-esque, while even the likes of spectacular-volley expert Marco van Basten would have been proud of the finish.
