Lionel Messi doesn't rule out future Barcelona exit

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Lionel Messi has suggested he may not play his entire career for Barcelona after admitting that many things can change in football.

The Argentine star came through Barça's famed youth academy at La Masia, and has since helped the club win six La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies during one of the most successful periods in the club's history.

Despite revealing that he would like to see out his career at the Camp Nou, Messi left a subtle hint that he could move away from the club at some point in the future.

The 27-year-old told Argentinian newspaper Olé: "I'm just living in the present. I'm thinking about having a great year and winning the titles at Barcelona. Nothing more.

"After that, we'll see. Football has a lot of twists and turns. I always said that I'd like to stay there forever, but things don't always work out as you want them to."

Asked if he would leave due to a personal decision or a club choice, Messi said: "I have said it many times - if it were up to me, I would stay forever.

"But like I said just now, things don't always turn out how you would like, especially in football, which is so changeable and in which so many things happen."
