Raúl González scored a hat-trick as Real Madrid won 4-2 at Sevilla to get a little closer to Barcelona ahead of next weekend's El Clásico at the Bernabéu.

The hosts took the lead after 17 minutes when Renato nipped in between Christoph Metzelder and Miguel Torres to power a header past Iker Casillas from six yards.

But Raúl equalised by turning in a Metzelder low cross past Andrés Palop on the stroke of halftime.

The 31-year-old striker then volleyed in Torres' deflected cross in the 63rd minute before pouncing on a fumble by Palop to make it 3-1 three minutes later.

Substitute Diego Capel pulled one back for the home side ten minutes from time after former Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos had failed to clear a cross into the area.

The visitors then sealed the victory deep into injury time when Marcelo raced clear and, after taking all the time in the world to pick his spot, coolly slotted past Palop.
