Sergio Asenjo was the hero for Atlético Madrid as he saved a first-half penalty from Nino to help Los Rojiblancos to a 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Tenerife.
Nino put Tenerife ahead in only the third minute as he tapped home from close range after Juanlu's deep free-kick was volleyed across the face of goal by Alejandro Alfaro.
Fortunately for Atlético though, they were only behind for 19 minutes before José Manuel Jurado drew them level with a well-worked goal.
The hosts then won a penalty just before halftime, when Álvaro Domínguez was harshly adjudged to have handled in the area. Asenjo guessed correctly and dived to his left to save Nino's kick and keep them on level terms.
