Arsenal have appointed Tom Fox, a former vice-president and managing director of NBA Asia, as the club’s new commercial officer.

He officially starts his new role with the North London club on August 24.

Fox started his career at former Gatorade parent company Quaker Oats in 1985 in its brand management programme and moved into Gatorade’s sports marketing department in 1988.

In 1993, he became director of sponsor programs for NBA Properties before moving to Hong Kong in 1995 to become vice president and managing director of NBA Asia.

The 45-year-old then ran Nike’s Asian sports marketing business from 1997 before progressing to Nike’s US operations as sports marketing director.

Fox returned to Gatorade in 1999 as senior vice-president of sports marketing before taking a consulting position at sports and entertainment marketing company Wasserman Media Group two years ago.
