Fiorentina joined Olympique Lyon in the knockout stages after beating the French champions 1-0 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The Viola took the lead on 29 minutes when Marco Marchionni's run into the area was halted by a clumsy challenge from Aly Cissokho and Juan Vargas rammed home from 12 yards.
