Arsène Wenger tells Cesc Fábregas: Say you'll stay!

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger believes it is now down to Cesc Fàbregas to end the speculation surrounding his future once and for all.

Wenger is determined to keep Fábregas even though the Spain midfielder has made it clear he would love to rejoin Barcelona - the club he left to join Arsenal as a teenager.

Fábregas is due to return to England on Thursday for Arsenal's official photocall for the club's Members' Day.

And Wenger is eager to draw a line under the disruption that continues to flow on an almost daily basis from Spain.

"The story in the last six months has made our lives difficult and I believe what is important is that when Cesc comes back, he comes out and speaks," said Wenger after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with AC Milan in the Emirates Cup on Saturday.

"Only Cesc can clear the air when he gets back from holiday. Only Cesc can stop the speculation.

"We cannot go into a season where every day you read about that.

"He has not played today, we have just played a football game and I sit here speaking about Fábregas."
