Ronaldinho returns to Brazil, moves closer to Milan exit

Sunday, January 2, 2011

Ronaldinho is closer to the AC Milan exit door after leaving the club's training base in Dubai to fly to Brazil, most likely to complete a transfer to old club Grêmio.

The 30-year-old has flown out to Porto Alegre for a meeting with his agent Roberto de Assis and Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani on Sunday to finalise a move to the Brazilian side.

The former World Player of the Year has been linked with an exit from the San Siro after limited appearances this season under coach Massimiliano Allegri.

The impending arrival of Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano in the January window means the Brazilian would likely fall further out of favour with the Rossoneri.

"We await his departure becoming official," Allegri told Sky Italia.

"There is a great deal of disappointment and I am sorry that we couldn't get him back to his best.

"I was convinced that Ronaldinho could have a great season. He started well, with a balanced side, but then everyone has to take their own responsibility."

Striker Zlatan Ibrahimović added: "I'm disappointed Ronaldinho is no longer with us.

"In my view he is one of the greatest champions of all time and it was an honour to play alongside him.

"It's true that recently he wasn't very happy on the field, but the important thing is that he's happy now. Dinho knows what he wants from his career and must follow it."
