In a quick, unfortunate turn of events for Suárez, the Liverpool striker underwent minor knee surgery on Thursday to repair damage to his meniscus.

With just 23 short days until Uruguay's World Cup campaign begins, there remains a possibility that Suárez will be forced to sit out Brazil 2014.

Uruguay fans furious at the prospect of going into the World Cup without their talisman and they are in no doubt who is to blame.

It is thought that a heavy tackle from Dummett during Liverpool's final Premier League game of the season was the root cause of Suárez's need for an operation.

The Welshman was sent off for the challenge, although that red card was rescinded on appeal.

But fans in South America are convinced Dummett's challenge is the cause of the injury and they have vented their anger at the 22-year-old on Twitter.
