The Hatters, who began the 2023/24 season in the Premier League, have now finished 22nd in the Championship, confirming their descent into the third tier of English football for the 2025/26 campaign.
Another Historic Low
The result marks an unwanted place in history for Luton, who have become just the fourth team ever to be relegated from the Premier League to League One in back-to-back seasons.
Only Swindon Town (1995), Wolves (2013) and Sunderland (2018) have previously endured the same fate.
It's a bitter pill to swallow for Luton fans, many of whom witnessed the club's remarkable rise to the top flight - only to see it unravel in dramatic fashion over two brutal seasons.
Final Day Collapse
Despite starting the day 21st in the table, just above the drop zone, Rob Edwards' side capitulated at The Hawthorns.
Tom Fellows and Callum Styles each bagged a brace for West Brom, with Daryl Dike also getting on the scoresheet.
Millenic Alli and Jordan Clark managed late consolations, but the damage had already been done.
Meanwhile, Hull City's 1-1 draw at Portsmouth was enough to lift them out of the bottom three - sealing Luton's fate.
Joining Luton in the relegation zone are Cardiff City, whose drop was confirmed last weekend, and Plymouth Argyle, who were managed by Wayne Rooney for approximately seven months.
What Next for Luton?
Having gone from Premier League football to League One in the space of 24 months, Luton now face a major rebuild.
The club's hierarchy will have tough questions to answer, with fans likely to demand clarity on the direction and ambition of the club going forward.
Meanwhile, the Championship play-off picture was confirmed, with Sheffield United, Sunderland, Coventry City, and Bristol City battling for the final promotion spot.
