Samir Nasri out for up to three months with broken leg

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Arsenal star Samir Nasri will be ruled out for up to three months after breaking his leg during a training session Tuesday at the club’s preseason camp in Austria.

The club said they expect the France international to travel back to Britain on Wednesday.

Medics believe Nasri will be out for 12 weeks only, meaning he may be back by October.

But Gunners boss Arsène Wenger hopes the injury could heal in six weeks after discovering the midfielder’s fracture is a "simple one".

Wenger told Arsenal TV Online: "He accidentally nicked the ball away from somebody having a shot on goal. Unfortunately he got kicked and broke his fibula.

"It's not a complicated one, it's a simple one but it will take six weeks to heal.

"But the options are Tomáš Rosický who is back. And in (those) two months Eduardo will be back as well.

"We do have offensive options but we don’t want to lose important players before the season starts."
