Arsenal Preview

Arsenal have not been at all consistent at home this season with five wins, two draws and three defeats.

The defeats number is far higher than Arsene Wenger would like.

Defensively Arsenal have been quite leaky at home with 15 goals conceded and they will be looking to improve on their goals for ratio, currently set at 25.

However, many of the betting odds at https://sports.bwin.com/en/sports/4/betting/football will favour the Gunners.

Injuries and Suspensions

Gervinho will not play in this game as he is still away at the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast.

Mikel Arteta, Lukasz Fabianski and Tomas Rosicky are also unlikely to play. Francis Coquelin is out with a hamstring problem but Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain and Lukas Podolski could return after a bout of illness.

Arsenal can be backed at 6/5 with Bwin which is just the right side of evens for punters.

Liverpool Preview

Liverpool have been improving to climb up to seventh place in the table.

Their away form hasn’t been brilliant and reads three wins, four draws and four defeats.

However, their football is improving and they have a goal difference of zero away from home having scored and conceded 18 goals.

Injuries and Suspensions

Oussama Assaidi is away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco.

Jose Enrique, John Flanagan and Martin Kelly will not play while Pepe Reina is struggling to be fit with a thigh problem and he also has a broken nose.

Liverpool have no suspensions to worry about ahead of this match.

Liverpool are currently available at 9/4 with Bwin to win, which could reduce in price closer to kick-off time.

Arsenal v Liverpool Statistics

Arsenal have lost six matches so far this season which is an extremely high ratio of games.

This includes defeats against Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, clubs Arsenal would normally be competing with for the Premier League title.

Liverpool started the season poorly but as Brendan Rodgers has been given the time to develop the side, results have improved.

Liverpool have a current tally across all games of nine wins, seven draws and seven defeats.

Arsenal have the clear advantage in collective wins with 45 compared to the 23 held by Liverpool.

Recent Form

December was a much better month for Arsenal than January has been with four wins and one defeat over the Christmas period.

Arsenal have suffered defeats away to Chelsea and at home to Manchester City so far in January.

Liverpool have won all of their league matches in January apart from the defeat to Manchester United.

They have scored eight goals across their two wins. They also won four out of their six matches in December.

Arsenal v Liverpool Prediction

Matches between these two sides always tend to be close and tight affairs.

Arsenal should have a couple of key players coming back but Liverpool are digging in and playing some very good football at the moment in attack and defence.

Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool

Bwin will give you odds of 5/1 if you want to back the 1-1 draw for this match.
