Premier League: Man City 3-0 Wigan

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Manchester City moved into fifth place, two points behind Tottenham Hotspur, following a 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic at Eastlands.

Wigan were reduced to 10 men in the 56th minute when Gary Caldwell was shown a straight red card for a scissor-kick challenge on Carlos Tévez.

City finally made the breakthrough in the 72nd minute when Tévez tapped in Patrick Vieira's chip after keeper Vladimir Stojković went walkabout.

Tévez sealed the win as he poked home a cross at the back-post two minutes later, and saved his best till last by skipping past the fatigued Wigan players to slot home a fine effort with six minutes remaining.
