Premier League: Man City 5-1 Norwich

Sunday, December 4, 2011

Manchester City cemented their standing at the top of the Premier League table with a 5-1 victory over Norwich City at the Etihad Stadium.

Sergio Agüero showed mesmerising skill to give City the lead in the 32nd minute when, despite facing four yellow shirts in front of him, he somehow managed to make a yard and poke a shot into the bottom corner.

City doubled their lead six minutes into the second half when Samir Nasri's free-kick beat everyone in the area before bouncing home beyond John Ruddy.

It was three on 68 minutes when Yaya Touré curled into the back of the next from 12 yards, before Steve Morison grabbed a consolation for Norwich nine minutes from time with a towering header.

But there was still time for City to add two more as substitute Mario Balotelli bundled the ball past Ruddy and touched it home with his shoulder on 88 minutes, and in stoppage time Adam Johnson added a fifth with a low drive.
