Sampdoria took their unbeaten home run in the league past the 12-month mark after a comfortable 2-0 win over second-from-bottom Atalanta.
The home side took the lead via Angelo Palombo in the 36th minute and then doubled their advantage thanks to a Giampaolo Pazzini strike just before half-time.
Marco Padalino was shown a straight red card for dissent in the final minute but it did not affect the outcome.
