Basement boys Xerez netted an injury-time equaliser at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to leave Sevilla without a win in their last seven competitive matches.
After a goalless first half, substitute Frédéric Kanouté broke the deadlock on 63 minutes when he converted from the penalty spot.
That looked like being enough for Sevilla until Leandro Gioda popped up with an equaliser in the closing seconds for Xerez.
